The original Grand Theft Auto introduces the core idea of the series: open-ended crime across large urban maps. Players build a criminal reputation by completing jobs, stealing vehicles, escaping police, and causing chaos in Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. Its top-down design is simple compared with later entries, but the foundation of freedom, risk, and satire is already there.
